BECOMING

A HOME INSPECTOR

Why did I become a home inspector?

The truth is, I love houses! Demystifying is my specialty. I often hear statement like, "OH! I always wondered how that worked and now it makes sense!" Ask me anything.

As a kid, playing with Barbies was more about building their house than playing with the dolls. Luckily, I did not have a dollhouse because the fun part was collecting and grouping tables, boxes, cardboard, tape, blankets and whatever else I could find, to make custom living spaces for Barbie and her pals. My family was in construction and I loved going to job sites and seeing real construction.

My first business was house cleaning. The satisfaction of walking into a dirty house and leaving it fresh and sparkling is the best. While working in that field, I realized that I often helped clients diagnose home-related issues which pointed me to the field of home inspection. My entry into the field included monthly meetings with the local Home Inspector association. I was able to shadow master inspectors on multiple inspections, as well as learn at the monthly meetings.

My first home inspection was on a home that we would purchase soon after. Moving forward from that point, I decided that I could definitely do this job. Over the years and after many inspections, I continue to grow. My process is straightforward and thorough, and my goal is to ensure that my clients are fully informed.

Knowing there is a gas furnace is one thing; knowing it’s 20 years old, dirty, rusty and worn, is another. I leverage useful information first and only, leaving out over-embellished language and repetition. Just the facts, photos and summary of corrections needed.
